wednesday100: "Bless You". The challenge is to have two characters go shopping together. I sent Clark and Lex to the drugstore.

You know what's always charming? When someone makes an obliquely insulting comment about a story of yours in their own story notes. Kind of puts you off the entire fandom for awhile, you know?

My husband brought home The Animatrix last night and we watched the first five short films while I folded laundry. The animation is superb. Fantastic CGI humans better than Final Fantasy (and I'm wondering if the title of the first short, "Final Flight of the Osiris," is supposed to make us think of that). Not so impressed with "The Second Renaissance" -- we both agreed that we preferred the indeterminate history of the film, where no one really remembered exactly how the war between the men and machines played out. There's some really dopey science in here. I tried to rationalize that maybe it was the machines' own mythology, because I'd love to know what kind of creation myths machines would make for themselves if they became sentient, but it's supposed to be from the archives of Zion, indicating that it's supposed to be human records. I did love the philosophizing about how full a life one could live within the Matrix in the Duo segment -- the idea that maybe souls can transcend their environment.

I still have no cable. If you're trying to call me, send me e-mail first so I know to get off the line. If you're hoping I'll upload or download anything, not today, sorry. Arrgh.

And in honor of that...SPAM! Look, I'm a Jonathon Earl Bowser painting and a goddess! Both good things!

Dea dubiosa, or Goddess Sue
You are Dea dubiosa, the Goddess Sue. All
the power of heaven and earth is at your
command, which doesn't stop you from throwing
tantrums, or explain why we've never heard of
you before.

In other news, it is still raining. I feel like I am in Washington as in Seattle rather than Washington as in D.C. But I had good weather in England and I want good weather in L.A. so I am keeping my complaints to a minimum for karmic purposes.

I already posted this to rugbytackle but it bears repeating. Liv Tyler in Yahoo! Entertainment via this site that kindly archived the interview: "Viggo really likes the [elf] ears. He would always stroke them in the scenes. He thought the fans were going to have some elven ear obsession. So he had to throw a stroke of the ear in every shot that he could." Sean Bean in USA Today (via empy, who posted it yesterday): "I have elf ears anyway, or so I've been told." It was necessary to make note of this non-coincidence.

ealgylden pointed out the '80s Tarot. I wish I could get a physical version of this! My father is coming over for dinner so I must go be domestic. If you know me in RL, please refrain from cracking up.
