little review

Poem for Thursday

The major event of my Wednesday was a dentist appointment at which my dentist told me that I really should get a bite guard to stop me from grinding my teeth at night. I did not bother to tell him that I often catch myself grinding my teeth during the day as well; I am terrible in this regard, particularly when I am impatient waiting for web pages to load or for a bus to arrive, that sort of thing. But can I sleep with plastic in my mouth, that is the question. Since I was (back) at the mall I stopped at Borders and discovered that they had Taschen's fat book of The Male Nude on the bargain rack. Now I can look things up when I need an accurate description of a foreskin, something I have never seen on an adult male in person, having grown up in the US. *snerk*

Otherwise I had an interesting day being talked to by characters, including Lucius Malfoy who apparently thinks he is the hero of the Harry Potter saga and a version of Snape I haven't heard from in awhile. But the highlight was during a conversation with ldybastet in which I was saying that I'd rather Snape have done everything for passionate love of Dumbledore than of Lily Evans, and suddenly the truth came clear to me: Snape did it all for love of Regulus Black. It all fits so nicely: it's why Sirius hated Snape so much, if he was not only a greasy git but buggering his baby brother, and why Snape left after Regulus died (I had thought from the Lexicon timeline that Regulus died before Harry was born but canon is very vague, it's possible that Regulus died the same night as the Potters from what I can tell). We might actually have to postpone the end of Snupin to write this because now Regulus is talking to me even though I have never had any sense of him whatsoever.

No other news, really: my mother watched the kids while I was at the dentist and when I came home so I could get some work done, got my sons to work on their summer homework packets that they now have only a couple of days to finish, watched "Balance of Terror" in the evening so I can review it this week and I swear the original series gets better with every episode (though I'll see if I feel that way after the upcoming "Shore Leave" silliness). I started a very long overdue beta but I think I may be asleep before I can finish it! So no more Gladiator extras yet and no January Man but I have my entertainment cut out for me next week.
