green little review

Verse for Friday, A Mighty Wind, St. Patrick Sheep

I had a nice, low-key St. Patrick's Day, during which I did a bit of shopping for apaulled's birthday next week and got caught up on a bunch of other things and ate too much (cheese and soda bread and apaulled managed to find a recipe for vegetarian Irish stew for dinner, plus we had Bailey's in the house so if my spelling is off, that's why, heh). I did wear green but I couldn't find my shamrock with the Star of David set in it -- pity, since the Fast of Esther starts today, and Purim and St. Patrick's Day are both holidays that traditionally involve much cheer and imbibing. The woods behind my neighborhood are currently blooming with crocuses, daffodils, and forsythia, and it's supposed to be 75 degrees on Friday.

We figured we'd put on the Celtic Thunder concert on PBS in the evening, but we missed the beginning of it on one station because certain members of the family were distracted by NCAA basketball and told me the wrong time. So -- since I cannot deal with weeks on end of the NCAA tournament, especially at the beginning when UConn can beat Bucknell by 30 points -- we put on A Mighty Wind, which we got in the mood for while talking about folk music on PBS. How did I never realize that Sue Sylvester is the ex-porn star in the New Main Street Singers? And how come Mitch and Mickey make me all misty-eyed now when they never did before, since I was too busy laughing at Ed Begley, Jr.'s atrocious Yiddish?
