I had an awesome Thursday with dementordelta -- we were going to go see Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides together, but we decided that we were actually more in the mood to see the original trilogy, so we stayed in and watched Curse of the Black Pearl, Dead Man's Chest, and At World's End. We ordered pizza (which took an hour and a half to arrive) and ended up sharing with both my kids, since older son had hauled himself out of bed and younger son had gotten home from his first two final exams (Chinese and math). You all know of my unconditional love for Elizabeth Swann and my adoration of Hector Barbossa so I won't go on about it again; I will just mention that it grows every time I watch the movies and I couldn't even care that the battles go on too long and I still think Norrington deserved better.
Younger son wants to go out for track in the fall and has been doing some running in addition to his dog-walking, so he spent a lot of time out in the near-100-degree heat, which the rest of us were trying to avoid, though apaulled had to cut down a huge branch from a neighbor's tree that had fallen right over our walkway. We had a fairly quiet evening -- ravioli for dinner, then the Science Channel, which was showing two episodes of Unearthing Ancient Secrets: "Khubilai Khan's Lost Fleet" and "Egypt's Mystery Tomb" -- and I am very happy that I did not get the incapacitating migraine from the thunderstorms rolling through that I thought for a few minutes that I might.
